Electra fire spreads: Hundreds evacuated in California’s Sierra Nevada Gold Country

Jackson, Calif. — Evacuation orders were expanded Tuesday for remote California communities around a wildfire that may well have been sparked by fireworks or a barbecue on the Fourth of July in a mountainous area which is a major tourism location.
 
The Electra Hearth in Sierra Nevada Gold Country broke out Monday afternoon and tripled in sizing to about 6.1 sq. miles. It was 5% contained Tuesday night time.

Vox Seaside is about 55 miles east of Sacramento in the coronary heart of the Sierra Nevada location that is steeped with the record of the mid-1800s Gold Rush.
